I was lucky enough to be a tester for the Simster. My full report is below.
Simster came in yesterday, but given we had a full blown dust storm and after work soccer practice, the Red Rooster package sat on my island, beckoning me to open it until my lunch break this afternoon.
Super well packaged (taped on the sides to ensure it would not accidentally open) and the personal letter was a fantastic touch. Speaking of touch, I read the letter about the 7 different microfiber blends and the quest for feel and durability for 1-2 hour sim sessions indoors and have to admit, the touch of the glove feels nice. Not “second skin leather” nice, but very comfortable. Slightly thicker than my leather glove, and definitely more comfortable than The Claw glove I’ve bean wearing for the winter.
I had to put it to the test. Note: it’s not humid here in Texas today (dew point is currently 24), so this is a dry test. I hit 30 shots with my 7I over 25 minutes. I did not take the glove off between shots (which is something I typically have to do after 3-5 shots max). It took me 25 shots and 22 minutes to have that feeling of “I want to take off this glove now”. I didn’t and hit those last few balls and it was tolerable to leave it on the whole time. Again, I’ll have to test on a more humid day, but it very comfortable for the duration of the session.
It feels very durable. Like I’m not going to have any issues with wearing this out. It is less tacky than my leather glove, but didn’t impact performance. Of my 30 shots, I hit the target 19/30 times for 63.3% (3 thin/short, 4 fat/short, 1 left and 3 right). I think it’s going to take some abuse and keep performing.
It's been a month and I've had multiple "field" sessions with the Simster (hitting between 20 and 50 shots outside), multiple "net sessions" and even 2 on course rounds and the glove is holding up very well.
When I did the original test, it wasn't humid. It's been very South Texas humid multiple times but the glove doesn't soak up sweat and stays comfortable even in the heat and humidity. I'm not able to keep it on for 20+ shots at a time before taking it off like I did during the non-humid test, but it's very easy to hit 6-8 balls without it feeling uncomfortable or like I need to take it off to preserve the glove. It's very durable. Virtually no signs of wear.
